Empathy, Education, and Empowerment: A Counsellor's Journey to Transform Lives

Welcome to JMG Changes Lives – A Sanctuary for Transformation!

I am Jayne-Marie Green, the proud founder of JMG Changes Lives, a haven for counselling and transformative workshops. My chosen business name is not just a title; it's a celebration echoing the heartfelt testimonials of clients and workshop participants who have joyously exclaimed, 'Jayne, you've changed my life!' This encapsulates the positive shifts and impactful experiences nurtured through my counselling sessions and workshops.

My commitment at JMG Changes Lives transcends a mere job; it's a calling rooted in an eight-year journey of dedicated study, two degrees, and 40 years of continuous professional development. It's about more than textbooks; it's about the transformative power of empathy gained through navigating my own life's twists and turns. I've faced my fair share of ups and downs, dealing with personal struggles in childhood, adulthood, and overcoming panic attacks after a significant car accident in 2000 that nearly claimed my life and left me in a wheelchair for over 12 months. It was two years of intensive rehabilitation that interrupted a highly successful and lucrative career that I could never return to.

My personal journey, marked by overcoming challenges such as panic attacks and life-altering incidents, fuels my profound understanding of how life's trials impact mental health. This has driven my commitment to specialize in addressing PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Within this expansive scope, I offer counselling to both adults and children grappling with diverse life challenges. These may include grief, divorce, family problems, aging parents, career and/or life stress, workplace bullying, parenting, and more, which have led to symptoms such as anxiety and/or depression under the broad umbrella of PTSD. Armed with the transformative tools of psychoeducation, my goal is to empower individuals to overcome these obstacles and embark on a path to healing and resilience.

My profound studies in human development have also liberated me, fostering a deep sense of freedom, contentment, and self-assurance. I've shed the shackles of codependency, discarded insecurities, and banished fears, transforming into a version of myself ready to guide others through their tribulations. Whether you're a client or workshop attendee, step into my space and discover a judgment-free haven,  crafted to put you at ease. Everyone deserves to be heard, validated, and genuinely cared for. Through sincerity and empathy, I strive to create a secure space for exploration without the shadows of judgment.

My commitment to professional growth shines through active membership with regulatory bodies for counsellors in Australia. Armed with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education specializing in Career and Guidance Counselling, and fortified by over four decades of experience as a state-registered adult, primary, and high school teacher, as well as a guidance counsellor, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience. Even before formal qualifications as a counsellor, my passion to improve lives led me to initiate and write mental and physical well-being programs in adult education and the employment industry, and run well-being retreats in the Bunya Mountains, yielding remarkable outcomes. Furthermore, in the classroom with children in primary and high school, my outstanding references attest to my ability to change non-compliant behaviors and academic outcomes, showcasing my commitment to improving the lives of everyone I encounter professionally and personally.

Recognizing the pivotal role of education in instigating change, psychoeducation forms 80% of the foundation of my practice. I firmly believe in imparting knowledge to empower individuals, reducing their reliance on counselling sessions.  People know how to manage their own lives: they just need the wealth of knowledge and tools that I bring to the table.  This commitment led to the inception of women's anxiety and depression workshops at my home office, providing transformative experiences at a more accessible cost. Fueled by an unwavering passion to assist others, my dedication to continuous learning empowers me to teach individuals the skills for effective life management.  Witnessing positive transformations in the lives of those I counsel and who attend my anxiety and depression, creative therapy, and life workshops and courses, not only reaffirms my purpose but also brings immeasurable fulfillment. In essence, my role as a counsellor is about more than making a difference; it's about being a guiding light for those navigating through struggles, assisting them in discovering their path to healing, growth, and self-empowerment, while arming them with the knowledge and tools that have changed my own life.

My career history serves as a testament to my diverse skill set and notable accomplishments. Just before a major life altering car accident disrupted my career trajectory during a business trip, I held a senior position as a marketing director for innovative identity card technology in Sydney. My efforts successfully secured major distribution networks, and I chaired meetings with esteemed CEO's and Senior Representatives of KPMG, Siemens, Kinkos, YHA, Rural Ambulance Victoria, Snap Printing and various universities and education departments statewide in Australia.

I have played a pivotal role in successfully restructuring and elevating organizational profiles, demonstrating a proven track record of enhancing profitability. This valuable experience positions me as a sought-after consultant for businesses seeking to replicate such achievements. With extensive and varied career experience, I offer expertise in training staff in client/customer service, instilling essential skills for delivering exceptional service and building lasting relationships. Moreover, I provide management professional development, equipping leaders with the skills necessary to lead teams more effectively. In addition to business-focused training, my offerings extend to personal development programs designed to reduce absenteeism, boost morale, and cultivate a more committed and dedicated team. These comprehensive services contribute to creating a thriving and dynamic business environment. During my tenure in adult education, my proactive efforts led to a well-deserved promotion, showcasing my ability to restructure student management systems, create effective student resources, and significantly enhance our organization's profile with employers. My organizational and administration skills consistently exceeded expectations, achieving outcomes surpassing those of larger companies. Across diverse industries, from superannuation and real estate to overseeing hospitality staff, my managerial capabilities have been commended. Furthermore, my contributions to the Head Office of Melbourne's Commonwealth Bank and the ANZ Bank in Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, underscore my versatility and success in various professional roles.

Moreover, any human services organization can ensure professional development for their staff on a diverse array of topics. Drawing on my extensive knowledge and experience as a highly skilled teacher, counsellor, and former employment consultant in the disabilities employment sector and special needs/special schools. This could encompass topics such as Bipolar disorder, PTSD, Asperger's, Non-Suicidal Self-Injury, Suicide, Anxiety, Depression, Sexual Abuse, Schizophrenia and more. I can organize well-planned professional development events and workshops tailored to the specific needs and requirements of the organization. This ensures that staff members receive comprehensive and targeted training, enhancing their knowledge and skills in dealing with various mental health and behavioral challenges with clients, contributing to a more proficient and compassionate team.

These career and prior life experiences, coupled with being married, divorced, a single parent of two children from age 4 until adulthood and a working mom and career woman, have given me a deep understanding of the difficulty at times it is to juggle dual responsibilities with balance and fortitude. Certainly, these experiences further enabled me to understand and appreciate the roles women take and why stress, anxiety, and depression can taint their life. This wisdom has enabled me to help so many women in my workshops and counselling sessions, transform themselves and their lives, and to appreciate just how much they do and just how important their roles and lives are.

In conclusion, I extend a warm welcome to a space where positive change and personal empowerment take center stage in the journey toward a successful career, a thriving business with well-trained and committed managers and staff, and a fulfilling life. Here, you will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to conquer both career and life challenges, fostering growth, resilience, and lasting happiness. Together, let us embark on a transformative journey toward professional success and personal well-being.
